Heading to London this summer? The city is full of wonders, and exploring in the sunshine makes the experience even more special.

While you’ve probably heard of iconic landmarks such as Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, London is also home to some spectacular hidden gems. Bold, vibrant and memorable, these locations are definitely worth visiting. Bring your camera along as you’ll want to snap a picture or two!

This guide will cover:

  • St Dunstan in the East
  • The Seven Noses
  • Isabella Plantation
  • Little Venice
  • The Painted Hall
  • Neal's Yard
  • Sky Garden
  • Luxury boutique hotels in London

If you’re on the hunt for photogenic places in London, make sure to swing by these spots. Read on as we take you through each location in a little more detail.

 St Dunstan in the East

Nearest tube stations: Monument and Tower Hill.

St Dunstan in the East is a former church that was severely damaged by the Great Fire of London. In 1976, the ruins of St Dunstan were transformed into a public park, and today it is one of London’s most picturesque places to visit. The gardens are particularly popular during the summer months when city workers come to relax at lunchtime.

Stroll around and witness the lush greenery entwined around the church. There are several benches dotted across the gardens, where you can sit, relax, and enjoy some peace and quiet away from the bustle of the city.

The Seven Noses

Nearest tube stations: alight at any tube station around Soho (such as Oxford Circus, Tottenham Court Road and Piccadilly) and begin the hunt for the Seven Noses.

The Seven Noses are one of Soho’s best-kept secrets. An artistic installation designed by Rick Buckley in 1997, these sculptures are located on various buildings around the area. Buckley created the noses to protest against the appearance of CCTV cameras across London, and they’ve sparked intrigue ever since.

Initially, there were believed to be about 35 Noses in total, attached to buildings such as Tate Britain and the National Gallery. By 2011, around ten had survived.

Interested? Use this handy map to find all seven of the installations around the capital city.

Isabella Plantation

Nearest tube station: Richmond.

Looking for Instagrammable London places? In that case, you have to visit Richmond Park’s Isabella Plantation. This 40-acre woodland garden is the perfect place for a summertime stroll, where you can see a huge display of azaleas that line the ponds and streams. The vibrancy of the colours is amazing, and there are tons of other flowers to spot, too.

If you want a photoshoot in London, this is the location to do it! Or just sit by the stream and take in the calmness of the surroundings. The gardens are completely free to visit and are open all week.

Little Venice

Nearest tube station: Warwick Avenue.

If you want to escape the chaos of central London, head to Little Venice for a few hours. Although not far from ever-busy Paddington Station, this canal district is one of London’s most tranquil areas. Home to scenic streets and waterside cafés, you won’t be disappointed by the views here.

Little Venice offers plenty to do, such as taking a boat ride, catching a theatre show and exploring Rembrandt Gardens. Or, you can just grab a drink and watch the world go by! Chill out by the waterside and soak in the laid-back atmosphere.

The Painted Hall

Directions: take the Jubilee Line (tube) to Canary Wharf Station and change to the Docklands Light Railway (DLR), alighting at Greenwich DLR Station.

The Painted Hall is one of the coolest things to see in London. Located at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, this room boasts 40,000 square feet of walls and ceilings, completely covered by eye-catching images of kings, queens, and mythological creatures. Designed in the early 18th century, this striking wall scheme took around 19 years to complete. Make sure to visit if you’re heading to the area.

Neal’s Yard

Nearest tube station: Covent Garden.

Neal’s Yard is one of London’s prettiest streets, home to a plethora of colourful buildings. Walking through this area is truly mesmerising. You’re met with such an explosion of vibrancy that you can’t help but photograph everything in sight.

A few years ago, Neal’s Yard was just a bleak, run-down collection of buildings. Fortunately, it was restored by its founder, Neil Saunders, and today it’s a bold, buzzing space. As you wander around, peek inside some of the independent shops selling everything from food to skincare products – there’s so much to discover.

Sky Garden

Nearest tube station: Monument.

Searching for the most Instagrammable restaurants in London? Sky Garden should be top of your list! This is London’s highest public garden, home to two luxury restaurants and three elegant bars. The views here are just incredible, offering sights right across the capital city. Sip on a delicious cocktail while taking in the gorgeous surroundings – there’s nothing quite like it.

If you don’t fancy visiting the restaurants, you can simply head to the indoor garden on the 43rd floor and enjoy the views from there. Entry is free of charge. Book your tickets here
